Ha. I'm so punny.
This craft came to be because I needed something tall-ish for my bathroom. We moved to a new apartment and the countertop is long. Believe me, I love the space, but it needed a little something or it would end up looking empty and lame. I let the idea marinate in my mind for a month or two to figure out what I wanted there. Soon I decided I wanted flowers with a couple of pieces next to it in the corner. Great. How to get a vase that isn't expensive and something I like. I don't know, but I don't really like the vases I kept finding at craft stores. Some of them are too elaborate for me, others aren't the shape I'm looking for, and then others just cost too much money. One day, I was at Walmart, getting some things I needed. I had the time and energy, so I decided to look around and see if I could find anything I needed for my crafting projects (yea, I keep a to-do list of craft projects, and things I need for them, on my phone). First I found these beautiful flowers and grabbed two stems. With these flowers, I decided I needed a tall, skinny vase to go along with it. So I turned around and looked at the vases available. Then I found the bottomless wine bottle. It was the perfect height and width. The only problem was it was a clear bottle. I wasn't fond of the idea that you could see the stems of these flowers. But then I thought, what if I just painted the bottle? I did a quick search online and found several different ways people had done it and found a method I liked. This is the method I will share in this post. This project is simple, but a little time consuming. But all you do is take the color pain you want and spread the paint all through the inside of the bottle. Most people tip the bottle around until the paint covers the entire bottle. That took a little too long for me, so I simply grabbed my brush and spread the paint around. This is one benefit of having a bottomless bottle.
Then you tip the bottle over and let it dry. This took a couple of days because I had the bottle standing right up, so the part that needed to get dry wasn't because it was covered. After a couple of days, I got smart and flipped it over and it dried in a couple of hours.
And done!! Still love this piece and the flowers that go with it. See how well they compliment the counter? It really adds to it. I also added a little twine bow for extra cuteness. So easy and this project cost me $5. Thanks for reading, for more craft ideas, follow me on Facebook or Pinterest. I'll set up a subscriber email soon, don't worry. This is still a new blog.

Clever title, huh?
New, super easy craft! The design for this Utensil holder was inspired by my kitchen table. Click here for that tutorial.
If you aren't aware, this blog is brand new. Today celebrates 2 months since it started! A huge thanks for those who visit my site, you're the reason why I keep blogging. Because the site is so new, I make beginner mistakes. This time, I forgot to take a before picture for this craft! So just imagine this piece with a bronze finish. Which you can kind of see in the photo below.
Overall, this was an easy, quick project. I bought this utensil holder before I had settled on my current color scheme for the kitchen. As I have made the transition to my current color scheme, which is red, blue, and white, I wanted this utensil to fit in as well. I decided that the best way to do it was to repaint it.
First, you start by cleaning your piece. That way, the paint will stick onto the utensil holder. I used spray paint for the white base. And did two layers of white. In the photo below, you can tell that one layer isn't good enough.
Once it was completely dry, I put painter's tape around the bottom and below the rim. I painted the rim first with two layers of paint.
After that, I taped the stencil I used to paint my table onto the Utensil holder and painted around the entire holder.
Pretty easy and quick to do. Just a heads up, be careful with the tape, it could peel off what's underneath. Luckily for me, I had a white paint pen to the rescue.
I've seen this done to other appliances such as a kitchen mixer. So don't feel like you have to buy your item a specific color. Thanks for reading. Please like on FB or pin it!
This is a pretty easy, short project to complete. I bought this large cork board at Walmart a couple of years ago and haven’t been able to use it. I accidentally ripped off the cork around the edges where I repainted the frame black, it looked ugly and unusable. Second, I didn’t have the wall space.
So when I started planning this room, the board came to mind, but again, it looked too ugly to use. So I looked around Pinterest and found that some people use fabric to cover up their boards. Here’s my take on how to get it done. After I purchased the fabric I wanted, I spread it out on top and line it up. Then grab some pins and pin it in place.
After I cut off the excess, I took my handy-dandy hot glue gun to "seal the deal" and keep it in place. I glued it about a half inch away from the frame so that I could tuck the rest of the fabric underneath the frame.
From there, I took this tiny Philips head screwdriver and used it to tuck the fabric underneath the frame.
I have two different sizes because the larger helped with some of the larger chunks of fabric. But most of the time, I used the smaller one.
Do that to all four side and done! Pretty simple and only took a half hour to do.
Now I have the flexibility to put whatever I want on this board. I have my Superhero Rules poster, a superhero alphabet Printable I found on Pinterest, and some pictures of my baby.
Since I finished this before my baby was born, the only photos I have were of the ultrasounds. Eventually I'll put up some actual photos of him.
Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for more craft ideas.
As I was finishing up my son's nursery, I realized there was some extra space on top of his bookshelf. I thought through several options, getting a wooden letter and putting scrapbook paper on it, etc. Ok, I only thought about that option...
But you know, I really liked the message in this Printable. And of course, I couldn't find a free printable so I designed my own. Then, as you can see in the image above, I purchased a frame from the dollar store to hold the print. Superhero in Disguise
This is available as a PDF, which can be printed out on an 8x10. Please Contact Me if you need assistance printing this out, or would like to have the png version. But to download this image, just click on the title below the image.
Just remember, it's for personal use only! Happy Crafting everyone!
If you've noticed looking at my nursery, there's always a positive message or a moral to each printable I've made. I have personally chosen to integrate positive messages into my decorations. I know they can't read yet, but it makes me feel good about myself as a mother (I swear I have a more serious answer, I just haven't discovered it yet).
Obviously, there are many ways you can use this. You can just hang it as a poster, place it in a frame, or place it on a cork board. Like this:
I'll be sharing a post on how I put the fabric on the cork board soon. So subscribe to my email list OR you can even like my Facebook Page/Pinterest board too.
After I created this poster, I decided I wanted to give more options to my readers. So I created ones with a light grey and a dark grey background.
You can pick which color you'd like when you download the PDF.

I designed the poster to be printed out as large as 18x20 inches. What I have available for download is a PDF of a poster if you just want to print it on a 8x11. Contact Me if you would like the PNG version so you can print out a larger size.
I am in LOVE with the result. Even this is won't be a typical post for my blog, however, I’ve done it, and I want to share it. I’m in love with how unique the piece is and how it fits in my kitchen. Especially when you consider what it looked like beforehand. I got the table from my sister’s mother-in-law a month after I got married. Yay for free stuff! It’s a solid table and I am grateful we have it. But I have always hated how it looked. For the past two years, I’ve always just put a cream table cloth over it to hide the green. It’s worked, but I’ve always wanted it to be better. The chairs actually about 6 months came after we got the table. We were using our folding chairs until one day, my brother found a friend who was giving away their table and chairs and asked if we wanted it. Of course we did! So he snagged it and brought it up for us. Somehow, they miraculously matched. I’ve thought about repainting the table for a year now. Now there’s a baby on the way, I knew it would be at least another year or so before I’d have a chance to work on this. So I planned a date, and got going. I did some research before beginning this project. However, I didn’t really plan which colors I wanted for the table. THIS IS A BAD IDEA. This pushed me back a day on getting the table done. The whole project took two weeks, not bad, but if you’re painting in your kitchen, which I was, it’s awful. I’m not doing another refinishing job until I have garage. Not only do you lose the functionality of your kitchen, but all the sawdust and other things that fall on your floor when you paint gets all over your house. Back to my beautiful table. I wanted it to match our kitchen, which right now is themed to our wedding colors. I have what I call a “wedding shrine” above our white food pantry with the decorations pieces my Mom made for my wedding reception. I loved how bright and happy it made our kitchen that I decided from then and there that would be the color scheme for the kitchen. I’ve slowly “built” our kitchen from there. Obviously the table had to match. Looking through Pinterest, I really liked how some people painted their chairs a different color than the table, so I went with the blue chairs to keep it warm and inviting, but doesn’t take away the design on the tile. The tile took a little more thought to put together. I saw people simply paint a solid color over the tile, but I had also seen people repaint the tile altogether. I felt because I had a tile top it was unique feature, and should still show it off, in a sense. I thought about putting new tiles on the table. As soon as I saw how much that cost, I quickly had second thoughts. I did not want to spend too much money on this project. So back to how to repaint the tile. On this, I was stuck. There weren’t many options I was in love with and whatever I searched didn’t match exactly what I was looking for. But I did find something. It came when I looked at how others repainted their floor tile using a stencil. I soon found the stencil I used at Hobby Lobby. It wasn’t the exact size I wanted, so I won’t lie; I was beginning to become anxious about completing this project. Still, I went with it. Lots of people will tell you to sand the furniture before you paint the primer, but I didn’t. I did sand the border on the table top, but couldn’t bring myself to attempt it with the rest of the furniture. Mainly because simply sanding that part of the table took 3 days. 3 exhausting days when you are 6 months pregnant. When I tried sanding off the green, it wouldn’t come off. All because I didn’t buy the correct sandpaper and didn’t bother buying or borrowing a sanding machine. This image was one day's worth of sanding :( I was doing my best to keep this project low budget and underestimated the costs. Then because I was buying the wrong tools, I had to spend MORE to get the right ones. So I guess I didn’t do enough research. But I learned that sanding blocks don’t cut it. You need actual sandpaper. If you have enough money, you should invest in a sanding machine or at least a hand-sander. I got it done, and then moved on to the fun part: the painting. I read on other blogs that if you don’t sand, you MUST prime twice. And I did, and it was hard and time consuming. Again, because I was pregnant, it was hard to move around on the floor. If you notice, I had decided to paint the tile before the border and used painter’s tape to keep the lines clean. If I did this again, I probably would’ve painted the border before the tile. At the end, when all I had to do left was paint the border, I was so worried the tape would ruin the tile. Luckily, it didn’t. Then I painted on the colors, oh it was such a relief to see some progression in my project! This was the first time I did a project that took more than an hour to complete. So it can be hard to see the big picture. I had 4 chairs to do and now there were two done! After two coats of primer, I put one coat of paint on the blue chairs, and then the final sealing clear coat. I stuck with one coat of color because I really liked the texture it created. If I had a chance to do it again, I’d go with two coats of color instead. I would have lost the texture, but after a month of the project being done, there’s now some chipping going on. I’m sure part of it was because of the lack of sanding, but I also think part of it was because I didn’t put a second coat of color on. Oh well, you live and you learn. Plus your furniture will chip when you have kids. It wasn’t until I finished the first two chairs that I start stenciling the tile top. The reason was because I had no idea what I wanted until that point in the project. I put two coats of primer and two coats of white paint, then let it sit for two days before I began to stencil. I only purchased one stencil and painted each shape individually before peeling the stencil off and moving on to the next part of the table. As you can see, I taped the stencil onto the table while I was painting. I don’t think this project would have turned out so well if I hadn’t done this. This took 5 days to complete. But you know, it was so worth it. When I was working on the stencil, I'd paint the reds first and then the blues. It was easier to use blue to cover the red if I accidentally painted into the other shape. Eventually, I got pretty good at keeping the amount of paint consistent. There’s one tiny section of the table where I didn’t line up the pattern correctly and the shapes started running into each other. You only make that mistake once and from there you are more careful about how the pattern lines up. It was all done, and the clear sealing coat was placed on! Yea! Now to the border. The original idea was to stain it and make it a light gray. But it wasn’t gray and I hated it. So I had a choice: either buy gray paint and paint over the top or use a color I already had. White was not an option, red was too overpowering and would compete with the tile for attention, and I didn’t want to spend more money, so I went with blue. I didn’t bother sanding the stain out and I painted the primer on while the stain was still sticky. Not the best thing ever, but I haven’t had any chipping problems yet. Then I put on two coats of blue paint and was done!! It’s so beautiful! In the morning when I'm so tired in the morning and eating breakfast, I just zone out and stare at my creation. It’s awesome. So did I necessarily did it the right way? Probably not. I’m pretty sure I’m going to run into some more chipping problems in the future, especially as my baby gets older, but it’s the tile I’m the most excited about. It’s the crowning jewel of the project and makes this table so unique. I’m proud with how it turned out. I have to add that I’m so glad I have a husband who is very supportive! He didn’t complain once about how nasty our kitchen looked as I was painting and he even helped me finish painting the chairs one day. I love that he’s proud of what I accomplished and makes sure our guests have a chance to see our table. He’s so great. Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for more posts!
Hope you all had an AMAZING 4th of July! My husband and I did.
Out of all the decorations for this room I have made, this is my favorite piece. After I designed the set, I simply printed it out and placed it in 5x7 frames I bought from the Dollar Store. Nothing too fancy.
My husband, though, doesn't love this set. He's uncomfortable with this stating he's smarter than Iron Man. Which I understand, Iron Man is awesome. However, our kids don't care if we're really smarter than Iron Man. I'm definitely not faster than Black Widow (heck, at 38 weeks pregnant, I'm lucky to be able to run at all). But this set represents how much we mean to them. We're their entire world. So really, in a sense, my husband will be smarter than Iron Man in my son's eyes. This particular set won't be on my site for free because I'm still contemplating opening an Etsy store. I strongly feel this particular set has some economic value. I'd like to have the opportunity to reap those benefits one day. I'm still working out some of the details. We'll see what the future holds. IF I decide to send this out for free, I'll let you know. Promise. In fact, if you subscribe to my blog, you'll be one of the first to know ;P It's been awesome to see how supportive you all are out there and seeing how many of you are visiting my site. I'd love to hear from you! Even if it's just a simple, "Oh, that's super cute! You're going to be an adorable Mom!" :D If I don't go into labor this week, I'll be posting about one of my larger projects, so stay tuned!!
I'm super excited to show off my nursery to you all.
It's been 6 months in the making and most of the decorations were designed by yours truly! Because I owned some of the supplies I needed for this room before putting it all together, I probably spent between $25-$40 on the decorations-maybe even less. This is our first baby. My husband and I are very excited about his arrival. In fact, once I saw this nursery theme, I really wanted a boy! For some reason, none of the girl themes got me as excited to decorate the room. I first saw decor for this theme at Gordman’s and just fell in love. Then I looked on Pinterest for more ideas which lead me to come up with more of my own. Here’s a link to the Pinterest board I made if you are interested in looking at other ideas I found. I have separate blog posts for most of decoration pieces in this room (I'll put a list of them at the end of this post). In each post, I'll write a description of how it came in the making; what inspired the idea and what I did to make it reality. I've already posted some of them, and others will be coming in the near future. I'll let you know which is which when you get there. Some of the features in this room, however, will be highlighted here, so keep reading!
My Paper Craze Superhero Comic Book Printable
and Superhero Birth Info Stats
Above the banner is a Baby Info Stats I designed based off of other ones I've seen. No, my baby isn't born yet...so I totally made up those numbers. I'll share with you how accurate I was later on. I've been considering providing the printable for the stats I've made, however, I don't know how to make it editable. If you really like this look however, I could personalize it for you. Just comment below or Contact Me. The CribFor this room, I had one central idea that put it all together, and it was stars. I think Marvel/Superhero fabric is a little too tacky, and a little to expensive. So I found this crib sheet on Target and thought it would be a great tie-in to his room.
Inside his crib, Ethan has two stuffed animals: Lil' Joey and Gale the Whale. Maybe I'll make a costume of Gale one day...I'll let you know if I do. Click here for the tutorial I created for Lil' Joey's costume.
The Lamp
Inside the lamp, I printed out a template I made of stars, printed it out on red and blue paper, cut it out, and taped it to the inside of the lamp. Here is the result:
So cute!! The best part is, you don't see the stars until you turn on the lamp! Makes those late nights a little more fun.
If you would like the template for these stars, keep reading, I'll share it with you at the bottom of the page.
The Bookshelf
This was the last part of the bedroom I finished. As you've seen in other parts of the bedroom, I usually don't highlight just one superhero, but it seemed more appropriate for this part of the room. It's because of the Explore sign and the Captain American Itsy Bitsy toy.
I purchased those are different times and they happened to center around Captain America. In a sense, it all came together that way. It would've have looked weirder if the "Little Boys in Disguise" Printable had the logo of another superhero. On the plus side, Captain America is my favorite superhero. So I'm not complaining.
I just LOVE this little guy. I'm really glad my husband picked this one.
Yes, I did design the "Little Boys are Superheroes in Disguise" print. A post about that will be coming along later. The other photo is the picture we took to announce our pregnancy. I feel that your decor needs to be about you. Family is very important to me and I strongly felt I needed to include family pictures in this nursery. This way Ethan will learn family is important too. I'll also be placing family photos onto the cork board you've seen in other photos. I'm planning on replacing it with an actual family photo once he's born, but in a sense, we're all there. It's crazy to think that he's going to see that as another photo of his parents. It's weird to think of us as parents! My Favorite Part of the Room
It's my favorite because of two things:
1. This chair is VERY comfortable. I've already spent hours sitting in it. 2. On the crib next to the chair, I stuck the remote for the stereo on the dresser with a piece of velcro. That way, late at night, I don't have to get up to turn on the music that'll help him fall asleep.
I am a genius.
List of Other Projects and Free Printable
That's his room, it's been fun sharing it with you. I've had such a fun time designing it too. I know everything here wasn't highlighted. If you are interested in seeing what else I created for his room, check out the list below:
